Finding Fanny….It’s a story of 5 dysfunctional characters, who are unique in their weirdest way possible. Two widowers Deepika & Dimple, one crack head romantic post master Naseeruddin Shah, an erotic painter Pankaj Kapur and a heartbroken lover Arjun Kapoor. They make a weirdest ensemble but they get together for a sweet ride of love and relationship.
Homi Adajania from “Being Cyrus” and “Cocktail” fame, brings another hatke feature which is favoured by many. He takes you on a journey which is very short though but gives you a sweet flavor of love and relationship. Homi instead of choosing new comers or less star value cast, stuck to biggies which was a great challenge, as to make them look down right simple in their respective characters. And another great thing was the movie being shot entirely in English with the local “goan” slang.
Deepika never looked so simple and at the same time vibrant which gave peculiar glow on her dimplish face,as “Angie” she did a sweet job. Dimple was astonishing as “Rosie“,she did a great job and tickled everyone’s funny bone. Naseeruddin Shah was shown as a shy and innocent oldie who finally builds up courage to speak his love for “Fanny” he is a versatile actor who can carry any role at any point in his life. Pankaj Kapur was downright funny with his funny antics and keeps you entertained throughout his presence. Arjun gives a commendable performance and proves that he can be counted for versatility.
The movie has hardly any songs as such but the background score by Mathias and Sachin-Jigar was sweet and suited the flick, “Fanny Re” was a good one. Cinematography by Anil Mehta was great as the small towns of GOA became memorable, which was well paced and cut by Sreekar Prasad(Hindi Version) and Nick Moore(English Version).
FINDING FANNY is a movie to be cherished rather be celebrated for it’s different take on life and love. For once instead of loud comedy, came a film which was calm yet makes you laugh hard enough. Watch it for it’s simplicity and great performances by the entire cast!!!!
+’s – Neat direction, great performances, slow comedy and delectable camera work.
