Vai Raja Vai is directed by Aishwarya R Dhanush starring Gautham Karthik, Priya Anand, Vivek, Taapsee Pannu, Daniel Balaji, Sathish, director vasanth, SJ Suryah, Manobala, Sri Ranjani and Gayatri Raghuram. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who steals the show, needless to say. Velraj’s cinematography is a big plus to the movie especially the song ‘Pachchai Vanna Poove’ is a visual treat. VT Vijayan’s editing and Madhan Karky’s dialogue make the film much crisp and AGS Entertainment has produced the movie.
Karthik has a special power which lets him know what will be happen next. This creates a problem in his school life so his parents train him not to use it. It disappears over a period of time. He then settles with an IT job and is happy with his fiance Priya. Life goes on smooth until one day he regains the power suddenly and starts behaving abnormal. This incident unfortunately happens in Priya’s house. So, what’s next and how Karthik takes his life forward with this power is all the movie is about. Catch the movie on screens to know the rest.
Vivek as Panda has played a very shuttle role which is contrast to his usual loud dialogues and double meaning humour phrases. Kudos to Aishwarya for showing us a different dimension of Vivek as an actor. Sathish is at his usual pace and so are Priya Anand and Taapsee. Both the girls look ravishing especially in the Casino scenes. Daniel Balaji does a neat job as a villain. He too is mild as a villain compared to his earlier movies but his screen presence adds a strength and his voice is a plus to him as an actor. Sri Ranjani and Gayatri Raghuram have added a breezy presence to the script with director Vasanth as a surprise package. May be he should do more acting going forward. SJ Suryah has done a cameo dance performance for the first time and the cream of all is Dhanush’s cameo. The last 5 minutes, he actually makes us forget that he is just playing a cameo. What style, grace and nativity? Hats Off Dhanush.
A special mention to Gautham Karthik who carries the movie on his shoulders with his shuttle performance thus giving us a hope that we have another promising hero for Tamil Cinema. The little remix of his father’s ‘Raja’ song from Agni Natchathiram is just cool. Good job and way to go Gautham. All the best!
Aishwarya has proved that a woman can handle a commercial movie too and breaks all the myths. The short duration of the movie is an added plus as well. There are few commercial elements being carried by male directors for some time now and Aishwarya has carried this trend. It would be great if she breaks this norm in her next commercial movie. An overall entertaining movie and you never feel bored through out the movie. Congratualtions Aishwarya for this success and wish we see more promising movies from you in future.
