THE LUNCHBOX….As the name states, it’s like experiencing a multi course meal, Which starts with a subtle soup, then it increases your appetite with delicious appetizers, bitter sweetness of Karela ki Sabji, softness of paneer kofta melting in your mouth, romanctic whiff of mutton biriyani, spicy kheema pav, added with tangy pickle followed by sumptuous rabri ends with a twist of pan, Hungry kya??. That’s what Lunchbox leaves you longing for a second serving.

Director Ritesh Batra gives you an amazing meal which lingers in your mouth even after the credits roll out. Every character in the movie makes its own space, even the voice of Mrs. Deshpande who is never shown in the movie but only her voice is heard. Ila(Nimrat Kaur) plays the average Indian middle class housewife, longing for the long lost love of her husband Rajiv(Nakul Vaid). She has a routine of sending the lunchbox through the famous Mumbai’s Dabbawala’s which one day gets switched to a different address and lands up in a government office where Saajan Fernandez(Irrfan Khan) works, there on the unusual love story of 2 individuals starts through The Lunchbox. It’s a short movie with amazing screenplay by Ritesh who captures every sentiment in precise proportions and serves it in a beautiful way. Irrfan Khan with no questions asked is a versatile actor tailor made for roles of this kind. He will make you hate him but at the same time you will fall in love with his character. Nimrat Kaur was outstanding, no make up, no sensational outfits but still she will make you fall for her. Then how can we forget Shaikh(Nawazuddin Siddiqui) he brings the comic relief in this flick with his stupendous performance.

All this ingredients were well mixed and served hot on the silver screen with breezy soundtrack and classy editing. It gets better as you keep opening the Lunchbox tier by tier. The flavor you get is amazing. The director leaves the climax to an open discussion among the audiences, which was a perfect move. Can you fall in love with someone you have never met? may be you will after a meal from this Lunchbox. Grab one soon before it’s over, definitely worth it!!!!
