Kalyana Samayal Saadham…. In our society daughters are considered as a big responsibility, all they can think of once they are born is to how to get her married, which in turn has turned into a pretty huge money making industry in our country.
The story of this movie is based on such matter. A girl who is ultra modern turns down all the proposals brought to her,one fine day she likes a boy who fits her bill. They get engaged and everything is hunky dory, well something has to go wrong if its a love story,so it does happens in this one as well,a problem arises, how this young couple tackles this issue and overcome the hurdles is what follows in this perfectly crafted romantic adult comedy.
RS Prasanna for Kalyana Samayal Saadham, has done a great job as a director . He has kept the romance factor very lively and real. The rituals were captured well. The comedy was maintained at proper pace throughout the feature length, with double meaning jokes. Even though the run time was long the well paced screenplay doesn’t tire you. He has used a very sensitive subject in a humorous way. Which throws a light on the problems faced by the urban youth these days due to stress.
Prasanna did a fine job, played the Tam-Bram boy well.Lekha Washington did a good job,she portrayed the character of a modern Brahman girl really well. The chemistry between the lead pair was great. They were complimented with a great ensemble of supporting actors.
The music was good composed by Arrora, nothing great to be praised but suited the movie’s mood, the track like “Pallu Pona Raja”,”Kalyanam 2.0″ and “Kadhal Marandhaayada” were the best ones.
This love story starts on a matrimony website and progress to Facebook becoming best pals. The dream wedding sequence was little exaggerated but still gives you the feel which the makers have intended to deliver. This one I would say is a well made adult rom-com, which shows a big fat Brahman wedding, its rituals and pitfalls in a humorous way.
This winter we have been invited to a warm romantic and dramatic wedding, which is definitely worth attending. This Kalyana Samayal Saadham has a wide spread of varieties, with great taste which you will savor for quite sometime even when you’re done with it.Debutante director RS Prasanna pulled off a good comedy with finesse.
