Aaha Kalyanam….It’s an official remake of most celebrated Hindi movie “Band Baaja Baaraat” directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Yash Raj Films. Yash Raj Films are known for their romantic movies in Bollywood and they are never small time, they are larger than life which have been a tradition all the while. Now with “Aaha Kalyanam” they have stepped their foot in Tamil Film Industry, which other production houses have to buck up as they have a style which is quite hard to match. They have Gokul Krishna directing the Tamil version which is also dubbed in Telugu.
Gokul Krishna have made a perfect frame to frame to remake of the original, the story is no doubt was a fresh one and was adapted well by Gokul, being an debutante it did not reflect anywhere. He did good justice to Maneesh Sharma’s “Band Baaja Baaraat”. If you have seen Tamil Cinema over the years, they have a different style of film making compared to Bollywood, But I believe Yash Raj Films broke that tradition with “Aaha Kalyanam”. Every frame is a treat to watch as the cinematography by Loganathan Srinivasan was spectacular, the colors were so rich, filled the silver screen with joy, Bavan’s editing was sharp. Dharan Kumar’s music was great, all the songs were well remade to match the mood of the film, especially don’t miss the “The Punch Song” it had all the punch lines from “SuperStar to Thala” was choreographed well, thanks to Brinda for wonderful choreography. The set designs were totally different from what we see usually in Tamil Cinema.
Nani who is a successful actor from Telugu Industry may have not delivered the Tamil well, but his performance as fast talking “Thanglish” youth was fun to watch. He has great comedy timing with charming looks. As the character Shakthi he suited really well. I hope he is seen in Tamil Films pretty often, he will make a great romantic hero.
Vaani Kapoor, she is one Tall beauty who will be in demand after this flick, well may be already in demand. Her character as Shruthi is a tough one to adapt because she had to satisfy the audience from Anushka’s performance in BBB. She did a great job at it, I would say she had put her heart and soul in to this role. She gave an amazing performance, not only that she is a great dancer. Mostly lip sync is a toughie for an actress from Hindi Film Industry, If you see her she was perfect in that department. Vaani as Shruthi was perfect.
Gokul Krishna in association with Yash Raj Films gave an extravaganza which Tamil Cinema had missed it all these years. He planned this wedding well to match the previous one. “Aaha Kalyanam” is a new age romantic comedy with sizzling chemistry between Vaani & Nani which lights up the silver screen with their spontaneity. The crowd’s response was tremendous with thundering applauds and screeching whistles, A perfect entertainer for the entire family.Don’t miss the end credits BLOOPERS!!!
+’s- Neat direction and screenplay with great chemistry between the lead pair.
